Bamboo (Species: Mao Tsu)

Bamboo is widely recognized as a “green” resource due to its rapid growth rate, exceptional physical properties, (including hardness and stability in relation to weight), and its “carbon sequestration” attributes. There are over known 1600 species of bamboo, but only the “giant” species, of which there are several, are suitable for flooring. (In case you are wondering, this is not the species that the Giant Pandas eat.) We use only mature stock material, which we ensure is harvested only when it is at its hardest. Bamboo grows extremely quickly, and hardens internally over time. After its peak hardness point, which we call its maturity, it softens again before dying. Not only is bamboo a rapidly renewable material, but it has little value unless it is harvested at maturity. All dyes used in our dye-infused products are organic and natural.
